Chakana Wines Maipe 2014 Malbec Reserve Mendoza Argentina
Maipe Reserve Malbec is crafted from hand selected parcels of the finest grapes grown at the Chakana Estate. The grapes are carefully chosen and fermented in small lots to insure vineyard identity. The Resulting wine is barrel aged for 12 months to fully reveal the identity of the Andean terroir.
91 Points, Wine Advocate – The same can be said for the 2012 Malbec Reserve, a 100% hand-harvested Malbec from the estate’s finest vineyard parcels. Aged 12 months in French oak, it possesses a softer style than the Cabernet Sauvignon with more minerality as well as lots of blackberry, white chocolate, incense and graphite characteristics. Deep ruby/purple-hued, rich and full-bodied, it is a full-throttle, stunning Malbec.
Sean Minor, 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles
Our 2010 Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon is ruby in color and displays aromas of lavender, cedar and raspberry fruit. Flavors of blackberries and raspberries combined with hints of savory spices coat the palate. The soft tannins and sweet oak balance lead to a long and lingering finish.
The Paso Robles AVA is located in San Luis Obispo County half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco along California’s Central Coast. With day-to-night temperature swings greater than any other appellation in California, Paso Robles is a unique wine region with distinct microclimates, diverse soils and a long growing season. These aspects provide optimal growing conditions for producing exceptional wines. A long growing season of warm days and cool evenings give rise to vibrantly ripened fruit with dynamic flavor profiles.
The 2010 vintage of our Cloverdale Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is dark garnet in color, with complex aromas of currants, cedar and winter spice. The tannin profile is as concentrated as the fruit which is the result of the smaller yields on the vines. A great year for the consumer, this wine will age and age.
The Prisoner, 2015 Napa Valley Red Wine
The Prisoner is an innovative red blend that takes its stylistic cue from the drinkable “mixed blacks” first made by Italian immigrants who originally settled the Napa Valley. In the late 90’s there were a handful of Napa producers beginning to make this style of wine again and Dave Phinney became one of them. The blend soon began to incorporate not only Zinfandel, but also Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Charbono, and Grenache.
The wine has a dense red and black hue that is framed in vibrant crimson. Aromas of Bing cherry, espresso, roasted fig and vanillin oak accents are persistent. The entry is powerful and generous supported with lively acidity while flavors of ripe raspberry, pomegranate and wild berry fruit linger harmoniously. Soft, integrated tannin chains allow the wine to be approachable now and provides for a pleasant finish.
